The library is a classically inspired brick building, constructed in 1939. While it has undergone several expansions on its south side, the original building can still be seen. The Library has a friendly staff and holds fun activities throughout the week for kids as well as adults, some of which include story times, movies, sing-a- longs, and genealogy workshops. livability.com/southern-idaho/"More subdued – yet still active – experiences can be found through Big Green Adventure Tours. Founder Gabrielle Burton created a half-dozen different tour itineraries designed to showcase the beauty and adventure of Southern Idaho. Sites on the various tours include such popular attractions as Dierkes Lake, Shoshone Falls, Craters of the Moon and Shoshone Ice Caves. But the company also offers an “off the beaten path” tour that hits some of the area’s more remote spots, including Malad Gorge State Park, the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery, Thousand Springs Scenic Byway and 48-foot-tall Balanced Rock. “I can’t tell you how many times I hear people say they had no idea that Idaho is so beautiful,” Burton says. “It’s such a surprise for people when people get here.” – Carey Estes
