On September 8, 1976, Evel Knievel attempted his final stunt to jump across the Snake River Canyon in the little town of Twin Falls, Idaho.  This historic event was publicized world-wide and though Evel did not succeed in jumping across the canyon and landed safely at the bottom instead, his legend lives on through his jump site which still stands just two miles from the Twin Falls Visitor Center.  You can also take a drive up to it and walk to the top of the mound of dirt constructed by his engineers and stand where his "rocket" launched into the air almost 50 years ago.  This exciting part of modern American culture will reignite your childhood memories of this legendary daredevil.
