Marvel at the ancient geology of City of Rocks National Reserve located in Almo, Idaho.  As one of the top destinations for hiking, camping, rock climbing and discovery in the state of Idaho, this 14,407 square acre National Reserve truly has something for every type of adventurer.  From the mild driving excursions through the reserve on its windy graded dirt roads to its steep rock walls that attract all levels of rock climbers from every corner of the world, these unusual granite features date back over 2 billion years in time.  Entering the reserve via The City of Rocks Scenic Byway, be sure to stop by the newly remodeled Visitor Center for maps, informational material and souvenirs.   As you travel through City of Rocks to Register Rock, this stop gives you a glimpse back to when the emigrants following the California Trail in search of new life in the west signed their names in rocks forever reminding us of the spirit of the American pioneers.
