Box Canyon![]() Take a hike down to the 14 foot waterfall that spans the natural spring waters in Box Canyon State Park. The trailhead to Box Canyon is located adjacent to the parking lot where you will climb a short ladder over the fencing and follow the trail until you see the "cable ropes" for your descension several hundred feet into the canyon. This is a steep, moderately rugged trail to the canyon floor where you will stay on the trail to the left and hike to a roaring waterfall and then on to the clear spring waters in a beach area along the water's trail inviting you in for a cool refresher. Water temperature is a steady 52 degrees year round, so this may be a quick dip! If you follow the loop trail back out, you will hike a total of four miles with the trail taking you down to the Snake River and then around and up the back of the lava cliffs on a well maintained service road past local fish farms. This trail offers a variety of flora and fauna all along the way.
